Class 4 Blog

11.03.15

Pupils have been reasearching Dr Who and the characters.  Pupils this week have been writing diary entries after wathcing the episode 'Victory of the daleks'. Here are some of the extracts:

Dear Diary,

It all started in the morning when Amy and I went into my tardis and there were three guns pointed at my head. I was not scared I was happy because I saw my old friend Winston Churchill. We were on the roof top, the daleks were shooting lasers. "Tell me tell me what is that?"(Curiously). I had asked the dalek 'What are you doing here? and the dalek said "I am your soldier".

Jayden

Dear Diary,

I had 3 guns pointed directly at my face and I saw my old friend Winston Churchill. After, I  discovered a dalek on the rooftop shooting space ships rapidly. I asked Amy to question one. Unfortunately, she didn't find anything out (sadly).  I was disgusted when Churchill use a dalek to defend London.

Callum

Dear Diary,

I had 3 long guns pointing at my head. I wasn't scared because I saw my old friend Winston Churchill. I saw Churchill's dalek shooting at the planes. I was not happy. I asked Amy to talk to the dalek, however, he just said "I am your soldier".

Coen

Dear Diary,

Today I had three guns pointed directly at my face (I was happy to see him) because I saw my friend Churchill.  Later on, on top of a rooftop, I found out that Churchills new secret weapon was a dalek.  I was really nervous because the dalek could betray us and destroy London.

Class 3 trip to Cardiff Bay 24/2/15

As part of our Calon Lan topic we have been looking at the similarities and differences of Cardiff Bay and Mountain Ash. We have recently researched what both areas were like 50years ago and thought about how they have changed to the present day. We have noticed that the land use has changed dramatically for Cardiff Bay and wanted to find out first hand how.

Before the big day arrived we decided we wanted to know why people go to Cardiff Bay and how they get there. We thought the best way to do this was to create a questionnaire. We'd never done this before so thought it world be best to design one for the children in school and ask them about their favourite games. we then practiced our oracy skills by asking two children from each class to complete it.

After deciding on things we would like to find out as a class we thought of questions we could as people and possible answers. We also discussed the importance of not asking for personal information, this linked with PC Rogers' internet safety lesson.

Our journey started on the 9.30 train from Fernhill, whilst on the train we met a very friendly elderly couple with a guide dog, some of us had a nap and the rest of us were just far too excited. Miss Harding was driving us nuts taking pictures to tweet to show our parents we were safe.

We had to get on another train at Cardiff Queen Street to take us to The Bay. Miss Harding was at it again 1,2,3...24,25 ok we'r all here lets go. As soon as we were there we set off exploring.

In the afternoon we made our way to Techniquest for a fun filled human body show. We also found some time to try out the other exhibits.

Medical Appointments

There are times when you need to collect your child from school during the school day. If this is for a medical/dental appointment please could you bring an appointment card with you to evidence the absence. We can therefore put the appropriate absence code against your child’s absence. If you do not bring the card, we have been told by the authority that the absence must be labelled as an unauthorised absence. The authority records the number of unauthorised absences and are looking to fine parents when 10 occur (1 day is 2 absences – morning and afternoon). Please pick your child up from reception not the class if your child has a medical appointment.
